Alinson Homestead

It’s been a while since our last blog entry, the time seems to just fly by. We Have been busy getting to know the area and the facilities available. We went along and joined the local sporting club, the Breakers Country Club, as social members for the time being and may join the bowling club as time goes on. They have bowling greens and golfing facilities and the club has numerous bars and restaurants that are open every day. We have tried the food and can recommend it and we have been told that the entertainment is first class.

Over the weekend we went to the opening of an original pioneers homestead that was built in the late 1800’s. It was partially destroyed by fire in 2011 and has been restored and renovated into a modern interactive museum. There were demonstrations of wood chopping, log sawing and some sheep shearing. It was a really hot day (38 degrees) but there was plenty of shade and a lovely breeze blowing down the Yaralong valley.
