The refurbishment of the coffee table is progressing. It is now undergoing finishing with numerous coats of stain and varnish. Quite a lengthy process to ensure a good finish. More on this in a later post.
In the mean time Susan said she would like a shawl pin for her woollen shawls. So it was on with the thinking cap and a design evolved. Then off to the Men’s Shed with the design, and a suitable piece of hardwood was found. After marking out, the pieces to work on were cut out on the the band saw. Then the main part was cut out using the scroll saw. After much filing and sanding the pieces were finished with numerous coats of liquid beeswax.
Not bad for a beginner at this woodworking lark.
