We spent today at the Woytopia Festival at Woy Woy South Public School organised by the Peninsula Environmental Group. It was a festival to promote sustainable life styles and celebrate art and music. The Central Coast Permacultue Society had a stand at the festival and as we are members we volunteered to do a shift on the stand during the day.
The festival started with an aboriginal dedication to the elders and the the original custodians of the land. A traditional smoke cleansing ceremony was performed followed by a talk on aboriginal culture and environment which was very enlightening. We then had a wander around before doing our shift on the stand.
Our luck was in for lunch as our favourite food stand was at the festival, Viet Yum – traditional Vietnamese cuisine. After an excellent lunch we spent some time listening to the various artists that were performing.
